It’s Thursday night on NBC, and just I sat through a half-hour setup on that Network’s struggling sitcom, 30 Rock, just now, to hear the "out" Network Promo, as the credits started to roll [voiced over by a woman]; it was an invitation to go online and play the show’s associated Web game, "Marry, Boff, or Kill."
OK: I’m going online to ‘play,’ and my options are, "marry her," "just boff her and be gone," or "kill her" ... right? That’s the "game" the discriminating GE Corporation wants me to play, just now?
I’ve just sat through a "smart" comedy on Network television -- the network owned by General Electric -- and it's one with ironic sensitivity to America’s "race question," and the dramatic twist that a GE Executive was a "Bad Actor" expected to perform 'live' on a Friday night, sketch comedy program.
(Of course, the creativity of Tina Fey -- and her bumbling, but infallible "personal touch" -- saved the day, and the ego of her male GE Executive boss was made "presentable" on the Public Airwaves ... yet again.)
But, suffering through another "smart" MSM self-crit (with irony) done by Tina Fey (one of the Best), I was struck by the Voice-over Juicer at the end: "'Go online and decide whether you want to ‘Marry, Boff, or Kill’ ... whomever."
[From the site: "Marry, Boff, or Kill? is always a favorite way to pass the time in the writers room of TGS."]
I wonder at how similar the Internet-connected "kids" the MSM wants to attract with the Game, these days, are presented with options that echo pretty much the same options that our President -- the Option-Challenged George W. Bush -- sees as our National prospect, when it comes to the Middle East (Israel/Lebanon/Palistine/Syria/Saudi) and George W’s challenge to players that are interested in what happens around the Persian Gulf (Iran, Iraq, Syria, the Emirates)?
Hey: You wanna "Marry them?" Do you just want to just "Boff them?" Or, do you want to "Kill them?" ENTER AND PLAY
[Tina Fey may be a genius, involving the GE Corporation like that, but I’ll have to think about her contribution, tomorrow... .]
SO: do you want to "Marry 'em?" Just "Boff them?" Or do you simply want to "Kill them?" 'Them,' being those people in the Middle East. Vote with your comments:
