leftbird just wrote a good diary on rewriting history but I want to expand on that. I just don't think that we need to rewrite history, but we need to make history right. George W. Bush should not have been elected President in my opinion in 2000, or should not have been re-elected in 2004.
Look at all that has happened since Bush has been President. Look how far away from the things we believe in not as a party, but as a nation we have been pulled away from. Our judgment not just today but in human history will be judged by what we do now to make history right.
What would this world be if Al Gore was President today? If Florida would have been recounted, and he would have assumed the Presidency. Would there have been a 9/11? Would we have gone to war with Iraq? Would the response to Hurricane Katrina had been the way it was?
I am not blaming President Bush for any of this. He has been elected, twice. But now people in this country are starting to see that maybe it was a mistake. I have so many friends who are Republicans or used to be Republicans who voted for him not just once but sometimes twice.
They regret it.
We have great candidates in the Democratic field running for President, our nation would be served well with any of them as President. But there truly is a leader in our country that is ready to be President. Do we now as we have seen the failures of the last several years sit back and no support the person who can best lead this country?
Today I am positive I can't support anyone other than Al Gore for President in 2008. Our country, our future, and our world deserve no less.
Make history right, support Al Gore for President.
