I've been troubled by many questions lately, but high on the list is a burning question keeping millions of us awake at night: why can't Democrats explain ANYTHING coherently?
I don't know why, but I know this much: we've all been suffering the consequences.
Their inability to effectively communicate their positions on issues is as incomprehensible as the convoluted gibberish they spout in response to Republican slogans like "support the troops." As we know all too well, this slogan of mass destruction is only the latest SMD to collapse Democrats into fetal positions from sea to shining sea.
Two simple numbers with a slash between them, "9/11", triggered this fetal position epidemic among Democrats back in 2001. A few Democrats managed to whimper about the Constitution, so "obstructionist" was trotted out by the RNC with predictable results, and then "support the troops" took over, which seems to have finished the job of paralyzing Democrats into abject obedience to a despised lame duck president who is even more incoherent than they are.
A 5th grader with average intelligence could refute any of these slogans without even glancing away from his Play Station game. Unfortunately, intelligent 5th graders aren't representing us in Congress, Democrats are.
So WTF are we going to do about this?
We're already doing plenty about it.
We've been doing THIS ABOUT IT and THIS ABOUT IT and THIS and THIS and THIS and THIS about it. Ten times an hour, another progressive voice is heard here, another issue is explained, another cause is defended, and another call for justice is proclaimed.
Can you HEAR us yet, Democrats?
America IS.
So what's YOUR fucking excuse?
I have never been prouder of our community than I've been over the past few weeks. From the front page to the recc list to the recent diary list to the comment threads, this place has been a Democratic enabler slamming, BushCo damning, where do I sign up to kick some reactionary rightwing Republican ass, destined for the history books 21st Century example of American democracy in action.
We're open 24/7, America. If you're tired of Tweety and Pumpkin Head and Katie and Wolfie filling your heads full of recycled Commander Guy LIES and want to find out for yourselves WHAT PROGRESSIVES STAND FOR, you came to THE RIGHT PLACE. We're LOUD and PROUD and PISSED OFF and damn well aren't going to apologize for it.
Even our pooties are FIRED UP.
We are not going to tolerate any more of this feeble-minded, excuse-making, pissing-and-moaning from a fetal-position, whining like a baby without its blanky, those damn bloggers have no choice but to vote for us anyway SHIT from Democrats. We don’t want to hear another word about the big bad Republicans and their scary slogans.
IMPEACH!
If these wittle Demmies want their mommies cuz they’re scared the Big Bad Commander Guy is going huff and puff and blow down that pop stand they call the Democratic Caucus, then we'll hand them all a pacifier and organize a surge of long past due, America-waking, BushCo shaking, democracy is what we make of it, primary challenges all the way from Steny's gerrymandered district to Nancy's gerrymandered district.
IMPEACH!
In other words, Democrats, fuck you very much and get your enabling asses out of Dodge along with the consultants you rode in on if you aren't going to shut down this occupation and lock up the nitwits who got us all into this blood-drenched mess.
IMPEACH!
Any questions?
Good.
If you can't explain what we stand for, Democrats, then WE'LL DO IT. This is WHAT WE STAND FOR. Our ideals have never been proclaimed with more dignity and passion and determination. We will remember Steve Gilliard. We will emulate him. We will carry on and we will win this fight for America's future.
On IRAQ MORATORIUM DAY, we are going to take a stand for our soldiers. On September 21, 2007, we are going to speak out for them. America's future depends on it. Bush's occupation of Iraq must end. We are going to do everything we can to end it by organizing Moratorium events in our own communities, by networking with other bloggers and activist groups to maximize turnout, and by traveling to larger cities in our areas to participate in mass rallies.
Public activism in the streets in September is a progressive weapon we have no choice but to use. THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE, we cannot turn our backs on this opportunity to STAND UP TOGETHER IN DEFIANCE of this criminal president and enabling Congress. They have turned their backs on our soldiers. But we aren't going to. They are our brothers and sisters, and we are going to bring them home.
Walk proudly in America's streets in September, progressives!
BE THE MEDIA
BE AMERICA'S CONSCIENCE.
BE HER VOICE.
BRING OUR SOLDIERS HOME.
We can start bringing them home right now at IraqMoratorium.org. Sign the Pledge, take the initiative in your community, network with other progressives on all of the Internets, especially this one.
BRING.
THEM.
HOME.
Until we make history across America on September 21, 2007, we are going to keep making history every day on Daily Kos. That's why we're here. That's what we're doing. That's what each of us has to keep on doing until we transform America into the progressive nation it was meant to be.
