PDF from CNN. They called each Representative (people elected to serve in your interest), and each one either made their requested 'earmarks' public, or failed to do so.
Earmarks totaled almost $30 billion in 2006.
pdf list of all representatives and their response OR LACK thereof.
There is no legal requirement to talk to CNN, but this isn't FOX. It seems like a perfectly valid exercise - ask each Representative to identify their earmark requests
My Representative Lynn Woolsey CA-6 did not respond to CNN's request, and now I'm interested to know:
- if there are requests for CA-6
- if so, who's getting the $$? and why not make it public (even if it is through CNN)?
31 of 435 repsonded... 68 declined to make them public, and 329 did not respond at all. The Democratic Congress pledged lobby reform and openness and CNN points out that does not seem to be the case according to the lack of response.
