The Boston Globe web site has a story up, Romney aide, targeted in probe, takes leave of absence.
Another Republican in trouble with the law, how shocking!!!! :-)
Mitt Romney's director of operations is taking a leave of absence from the presidential campaign after becoming the focus of an investigation into allegations that he posed as a state trooper in a recorded phone call complaining about a company's driver, the campaign announced today.
Apparently Romney's Director of Operations, Jay Garrity, likes impersonating law officers, more on the flip side....
As reported in yesterday's Boston Herald, Romney aide pulls out all the stops in N.H., Garrity has allegedly done this before:
An advance man for former Gov. Mitt Romney who was once cited for driving a sedan illegally tricked out with police gear - including lights, sirens and a badge - is again under fire after a run-in with a newspaper reporter.
New York Times [NYT] reporter Mark Leibovich wrote last week that he was pulled over by an earpiece-wearing aide, who the Romney campaign confirmed was longtime aide Jay Garrity. Leibovich wrote that he was "led to the shoulder" on a back road while following Romney’s SUV between campaign stops in rural Dover, N.H.
But why would a Romney aide be pulling people over on New Hampshire highways?
Garrity told Leibovich they ran his license plate and "explained that no one was permitted to follow Mr. Romney’s vehicle," Leibovich wrote of the May 29 incident.
Boy, wouldn't it be great if Romney became President. Then maybe Garrity could pretend he is Director of the FBI! Cool....
