Hi all,
This is going to be a short diary - my apologies. If you go to the Yahoo! Movies website, you will see that the reviews for SiCKO are becoming somewhat skewed, and that a number of those rated "Most Helpful" are by wingnuts. If you're not familiar with that site, Yahoo! members can create their own reviews and then others can rate the reviews as helpful or unhelpful. Several of the top-rated reviews are negative smears, and this suggests the kind of negative smear we've all seen before against prgressive candidates, films, speakers and books. Please help me counter this by going here, signing in and uprating the good ones - and downrating the bad ones. Oh, and by recommending this diary so more people can see it! (This is the first time I've asked for Rec's.)
A bit more after the jump...
When you go there, you may have to create a Yahoo ID if you don't already have one. It shouldn't be that difficult, and it only takes about a minute. I've already uprated the good ones and downrated the bad with four different accounts I've created. I'll feel dishonest doing too much more of that.
If you have time and if you've seen the movie - please also add your own review. This movie is far too important for us to allow it to be derailed by the maelstrom of misinformation, venom, hate and distraction that is going to be thrown at it.
So let's ACT! This is the opening salvo in a battle to transform our healthcare system. This is about saving lives, and it may be mine or yours. This is about easing suffering, for you and me and those we love - and for perfect strangers (just this week I was turned down for a surgery that could have relieved a lot of pain - and I'm one of the lucky ones because it's not life-threatening, just uncomfortable). This is about a nation of human beings rising up and saying, "We will not be treated like animals!"
This film is a powerful part of making sure that the wealthiest nation on earth takes care of its own. Let's make sure that it isn't allowed to be turned into a partisan football - and Yahoo! Movies is a good place to start that effort.
The link, one more time. Let's get to work!
