I was in lower Manhattan on 9/11. I saw the second plane hit and dealt with neighbors coming home the afternoon of the tragedy.
Where was Rudy Giuliani on 9/11? I have no f-ing clue. No one I knew gave a shit. He had no bearing on what had taken place. His photo ops were for the rest of the country.
Any notion that this fraud, this clown is an American hero is a steaming load of right wing Drudge driven bullshit.
And this truth of 9/11, Rudy's supposed "strength" is how we will end this hypocritical three times married fake tough guy's candidacy once and for all. Follow me on the flip.
If there's one thing the odious career of Karl Rove has taught us, it's that the way to end a politican's career is to attack the very narrative that purports to give him the most strength.
For most democrats, that storyline is the truth. John Kerry's heroic Vietnam service and his bold quests to end the war by testifying at the age of 27. Al Gore's powerful work on the environment.
But for a republican party so corrupt and devoid of actual governance that it's simply a media machine based on hysteria, fear and the mocking ridicule of a 3rd grade schoolyard, actual facts have no relevancy. They attack our candidate's truths to render them questionable. This "gap" they tear in the fabric of reality allows them to slip their fictional stories into the mix. If John Kerry's past is questionable, then George W. Bush's failure to show up for National Guard duty is equally as questionable. To a fatigued public fed on Fox News bullshit, it becomes "both parties lie about their past" reductionism. Because the whole thing's been called into question.
But that sword cuts two ways.
And you can thank Karl Rove. The Rove tactic is to render the opponent laughable, mockable and silly. Rove does this by hitting their strength.
We end the Rudy Giuliani campaign without having to lie. We end the Rudy Giuliani campaign by asking one simple question: Where was Rudy Giuliani on 9/11?
He was asleep. He snubbed the firefighters and policemen for years prior, their communication breakdowns are directly attributable to his failure of leadership. On 9/11 the police and firemen couldn't even talk to each other.
Where was Rudy?
Rudy was getting it on with his mistress while his wife and kids were being kicked out of Gracie Mansion.
That's where Rudy was on 9/11. His photo-ops were nothing more than dress-up, the equivalent of George Bush on the aircraft carrier.
Rudy was a failure on 9/11 because the city wasn't prepared. Firefighters were confused and coordination was abysmal. Rudy stupidly set up his terrorism task force inside the World Trade Center itself, an act of ridiculous hubris and arrogance that cost New York dearly when that bunker was destroyed.
Rudy Giuliani failed New York on 9/11.
This is the message. We tell the real story of 9/11 in the words of the firefighters and policemen who know what a fraud Rudy was and is. His attempts to make 9/11 his own insult every person who died on that day.
Nearly 3,000 Americans did not die on 9/11 to help one man's political future.
We sculpt the commercials with interviews, footage of Giuliani building his bunker inside the WTC, and his ridiculous photo-ops.
Where was Rudy Guiliani on 9/11? Getting his picture taken while New Yorkers died.
Can America afford another photo-op president?
This clown has hijacked a national tragedy, an experience I personally went through, to help his naked ambition. He's another detached "conservative" who wants to use the American army to bomb third world countries so he can feel like a tough guy.
Rudy Giuliani is a coward, and it's about time the democratic party called him on it.
I'm tired of the deference and respect from our side. They smear a genuine hero like John Kerry, and we're afraid to call out this prancing clown, this dancing wingnut coopting an American tragedy for his own purposes.
If Giuliani is the wingnut nominee, we must be pro-active. We must attack the very real and legitimate failures of his mayorial service in the years leading up to the 9/11 attacks. We must connect him to the same style of photo-op dress up "tough guy" fakeness of George W. Bush.
Rudy is a clown and a narcissist. From his divorces to his abuses of New Yorker civil rights to his fascist exploration of suspending term limits so he could stay on as Mayor, the man deserves nothing but mocking and ridicule.
We live in a Karl Rove political landscape that demands we fight with the aggressive personal smears of a schoolyard taunt. 2008 will not be about issues. It will be about who can render the other candidate more ridiculous.
The silly, preening ego that is Rudy Giuliani deserves to have its hot air punctured with the direct and probing light of truth. The truth of his failures on 9/11. The truth of his horrendous leadership of New York in the late 1990s. The truth of his lies in the debates and his propagandistic abuse of a very real tragedy for his own purposes.
9/11 didn't just happen to you, Rudy Giuliani. It happened to me. And if you try to take it from me and make it your stage prop for your ego driven candidacy, I'll be there to answer you every step of the way. You fraud. You coward.
Note to democrats: Hit him on the bullshit construct of his photo-op tough guy persona. Hit him hard. Hit him directly. Puncture the tough guy balloon he's so carefully constructed on the backs of 3,000 dead Americans who apparently died so Rudy Giuliani could abuse their corpses in a political campaign.
We can stop this fraud in his tracks by not being afraid to call him out for what he is: An opportunist, a propagandist, a failure of a leader and a liar of a politician. Rudy Giuliani was IRRELEVANT on 9/11. My local grocer played a more heroic role on that day, handing out free water.
I may be only one New Yorker there on 9/11. But there are others. And we will not let this fraud abuse what really happened on that day to help his own political fortunes.
