After an exciting night for Edwards supporters as the fundraising goal of 9 million dollars was met, the good news kept on coming as we received word that John Edwards convincingly won the Straw Poll of delegates at the WisPolitics.com Democratic Convention.
This marks yet another positive sign in the campaign to change America as Edwards is seeing his support increase in many individual states.
From Wispolitics
Of the 389 delegates, alternates and guests who voted, 153 backed Edwards, while Hillary Clinton came in second with 83 votes and Barack Obama was third with 74.
To break it down percentage-wise:
Edwards 39%
Clinton 21%
Obama 19%
Richardson 10%
Gore 3%- Gore was written in on 13 delegates ballots. So let's pretend that the other 376 had never heard of Al Gore and had no clue they could write him in.
This is not to be construed as a humongous development, but it illustrates Edwards' appeal to states outside of the ones getting the most attention. His position in Iowa, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin illustrate his favorability amongst rural voters and it hopefully will continue as Edwards gains some momentum.
I don't know, I was happy to find this out as an Edwards supporter.
