There are a few simple equations that need to be presented to the Democratic Party and the American People. The first is that it is commonly accepted that Bush is the worse president in the history of the Republic. In order for him to get to be the worst and stay the worst we have to balance the equation.
On the other side is we are exhibiting the worst press corps we have ever seen. They are generally anemic and useless allowing Bush, Cheney and Snowe to say whatever they want, unchallenged by logic and reality. Tim Russert is at the top of that list but it doesn't end there. It continues with every single person covering the White House. Without Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Michael Moore and Paul Krugman, there would be no truth.

Starting from the beginning of this year Nancy Pelosi had a chance to become one of the best speakers ever but it looks like she's turning out to be one of the worst. Once she has the votes, the only way the worst president in history can do incredible damage is by her abdication of her duties and her principles. She can stop this administration in its tracks but she has opted to close her eyes and hope she wakes up on November 5, 2008 with a new Democratic administration.
Bush and Cheney have built a cover-up, the likes of which we haven't seen since Nixon. I think it even goes beyond Nixon because Bush is giving the congress access to nothing and they too are closing their eyes and hoping they wake up on November 5, 2008 with a new Democratic administration.
Does this sound familiar? (from http://www.washingtonpost.com/... ) Instead of Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio, Where have you gone John Dean:
Dean Alleges Nixon Knew of Cover-up Plan

Former presidential counsel John W. Dean III has told Senate investigators and federal prosecutors that the discussed aspects of the Watergate cover-up with President Nixon or in Mr. Nixon's presence on at least 35 occasions between January and April of this year, according to reliable sources.
Dean plans to testify under oath at the Senate's Watergate hearings, regardless of whether he is granted full immunity from prosecution, and he will allege that President Nixon was deeply involved in the cover-up, the sources said.
Dean has told investigators that Mr. Nixon had prior knowledge of payments used to buy the silence of the Watergate conspirators and of offers of executive clemency extended in his name, the sources said
Pelosi is letting Bush get away with anything he wants and the only way to stop him is to impeach him and Cheney. During the impeachment hearings Bush must answer subpoenas and not block witnesses from testifying or not bribe them with payoffs and pardons. If he continues to stonewall, his chances of being removed increase exponentially because even Republicans, the selfish bastards they are, realize that a president cannot block the legislative branch from its oversight. They will not want that precedent set for all administrations in the future. Bush and Cheney want to be dictators and I don't believe the Senate will allow that to happen.
At the very least, impeachment hearings will shine a very bright spotlight on who and what the Republicans are and maybe a John Dean will surface and help to nail the evil-doers.
It’s time to turn Bush from a lame duck into a dead duck. Prosecuting via impeachment a White House cover-up and obstruction of justice is the only thing we can do to stop these selfish and very stupid pigs.
In addition, and investigation begun now might xtend into the next congress and the next congress might have a very different justice department to refer to. Libby can still go to jail for perjury during the impeachment process, unless he starts to remember what he misremembered with Fitzgerald. There is no downside to impeach other than Pellosi's insecurities about what the big mean Republicans will say about her. If the party is telling her to cool it, she needs to remember that the party doesn't no shit as they told Kerry not to attack Bush. The American People want to see tough fearless politicians who at the very least aren't afraid of Republicans, let alone al Qaeda.
