I am posting this diary for a friend, Thom, who is not Internet savvy, but he is a family man who cares about peace and the future of our country. What's this about? Christmas in July? - No, but this proposed boycott will require prior thought and planning.--sassykathy46
Boycott Christmas Shopping
Thomas C.
Make your gifts and enjoy a homemade Christmas! They will not listen till we hurt the bottom line. Let's work together for better jobs, better wages, better benefits and BETTER GOVERNMENT. These results are just the wishful pipe dreams of an old man. I am 61 years old, and I have seen a lot of changes in my country in those years. Most recently almost all of them have been bad. I think these bad things are the fault of BAD GOVERNMENT, AND CORPORATIONS, along with our inability to make ourselves heard in the media.
I feel if enough of us boycott Christmas - I mean all of Christmas: gifts, cards, food, decorations - that the boycott would cause the media, government, and corporations to take notice. This is not an easy thing to do; I know. Many of our family members will be disappointed and will fail to understand, especially the young ones. This is in no way meant to diminish the significance of Christmas. A quiet reverent celebration of our Lord's birth may actually be more in keeping with the Prince of Peace than our usual fiscal exuberance.
This is an action which does not require a leader, but it does require each of us to talk up the action. The more of us who speak of it, the greater the result. There are some who won't do anything unless they know that you are doing it too. We can not be taken for granted anymore. We can not be depended upon to spend - spend - spend. And you can just bet that if this catches on the talk from the media will be about how bad this is, how bad we are, and what damage we are doing. The criticism will be loud and frequent, which only means the silent majority is at last making their voice heard. Lets all yell we won't be taken for granted anymore.
Let's all boycott Christmas this year - NO Presents, NO Cards, NO Food, NO Decorations. Take action by doing nothing - doing nothing could have a dramatic affect.
