Couple of things - as I read the diaries - it is a good thing to be flamboyant and theatrical when you need to shock folks into reason. I don't think one should use this all the time, and like four letter words, it needs a special moment so the power of the action/words are not diminished. I like a little histrionics now and again because the exaggeration solidly sets the reality. Jon Stewart's humor, demonstrates this. So, if Harry Reid pushes the Republicans to filibuster, we should applaud him. I would like to see more of this sort of thing... wouldn't you?
In fact, I think we should find out what coffee shop in the general vicinity of Capital Hill, and I think we should pitch in to buy Congress some coffee and cookies for the long evening. I really do want a long evening.... and we Kossacks may need to pitch in to make this show a Broadway hit! Don't you think?
I don't live in DC but there must be a few folks who do. Maybe a Congress person who reads this might help us out? We can have it delivered, with permission, and set up something so that when the caffeine gets low it is replenished. How fun!
The other issue is that Senator Harry is in a particular position to keep the drama and the comedy going for quite some time = for this bill as well as any other the Democrats have in mind. You see, the media is into ratings and general stupidity and even if one of their own looks like a dope they will air the story.... But say the word from on 'high' (oh, who would THAT be?) that something else should be front and center... If word goes around that it's funny watching the Republicans wave their arms around, the pressure will be there for the cameras to record. That's Entertainment!
As serious as the issues are, we need to focus on making the obstructionists look like fools they really are.
Where do we start.... must be a Starbucks around.....
