She's a Clinton. If we elect her, we'd have either a Bush or a Clinton in office... from 1989 to (most likely) 2016. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton! Don't you see?!?! We'll likely never elect anyone who isn't a Bush or a Clinton... EVER AGAIN! We must stop her now, to save the very fabric of democracy. Next thing you know, she'll dissolve parliament - er... congress... and want a crown and scepter. She'll suggest that she was appointed by God... (wait - already happened with Dubya...) ...and that everyone must bow to her divine authority.
Ummm.... maybe not so much. I've heard this complaint before - I'm sure that anyone who frequents dkos could manage not to encounter it at least once every time they log in. One Kossack even saw his complaint used on the CNN YouTube debate. After all, what nerve does Hillary have, running for president with a last name like that? While this issue does provide ground for discussion about the nature of our political system - how politicians must have that foot in the door, and benefit greatly from connections - familial or otherwise, it is a complete non-issue (or should be) as far as any one candidate goes.
We've all heard, I'm sure... that America is the land of opportunity - where any little boy can grow up to be president. (Or perhaps a girl, providing the country is "ready for it.") The thing is - we usually think of this as referring to things like race or income... there is no technical limit, after all - no matter the limitations of the voting population. And it is true that any boy from a middle class family can become president, with enough determination and smarts - just look at Bill Clinton. But forget him (really!), because this is all about Hillary.
The thing is - all kids are potential presidents, but not all adults are. You basically have to be wealthy, well-known, and well-connected by the time you are an adult, in order to have a chance. Whether this is "fair" or not is beside the point - these are the realities of politics. It makes sense, then, that those who are closest to other political figures might be given their own chance, because they'll have benefited from being able to share the limelight, once in a while. It is all a matter of opportunity.
And if we are truly the land of opportunity, we'll give Hillary her chance. If any child can grow up to be president... well - that means the last name shouldn't matter. She could have been born a Clinton, and she'd still deserve her chance - she's worked for it. Anyone who has watched her campaign, watched her in the Senate, knows that she is qualified. Are you seriously suggesting that she shouldn't run, only on the basis of her last name?
