Ok Orlando. Lets try this again.
I posted two weeks ago that I was going to protesting in Orlando outside City Hall, (400 S. Orange Ave.) Unfortunately my best friend’s wife had complications with her pregnancy late Saturday night, and their first son was born by emergency c-section. Everyone’s doing fine now, but I spent most of Sunday at the hospital with the new Momma, Poppa, and Jr.; missing the protest.
Last week I was out of town.
This week I’m back and ready to roll up my shirt sleeves, make a sign or two, and get out there 12:00 noon, for some protest fun.
This morning watching the news while getting ready for work, what were the main stories of the day? The refusal of Harriet Myers to even show her face after being issued a congressional subpoena? The U.S. Attorney General blatantly lying to Congress? The implications in the A.G.’s testimony that there might be ANOTHER domestic spying program going on that was never disclosed? Bush’s executive order stating that he can freeze the assets of ANYONE who is "disruptive" to the "rebuilding" effort in Iraq? Or Bush’s other executive order stating that in the event of a vaguely defined "national crisis" he grants himself dictatorial powers? (add your outrage here or in the comments) Nope. None of those. This morning’s top news was drunk astronauts, and a cat that can tell when people are about to die. Our news outlets are a joke.
I’m honestly starting to believe that people power is the only way that word is going to get out to the public at large about the corruption, malfeasance, and incompetence of the current administration. It’s past time to get out in the streets and make ourselves and our complaints heard. Nothing’s going to change unless WE change it.
So come stand with me. Noon to 1:00pm, outside City Hall (400 S. Orange Ave, Orlando, FL.). Just bring a simple sign, "Enough!" sunscreen, water, etc.
