Is nothing sacred anymore, even our great national past-time baseball? I personally find it difficult to get excited as Barroid Bonds stands on the verge of tying and beating Henry Louis Hank Aaron's homerun record. So what, it just proves that the ends justify the means (cheating) in professional baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, etc.
Looking at Bond's freaky, extremely muscular physique it is hard to imagine anyone believing that he came by it naturally. I seriously question the truthfulness of MLB's, NFL's, NBA's, and WWF's random drug-testing policies. Even MLB's proposed new drug-testing policy would remain self-governed and self-serving.
Congress should pass their proposed legislation establishing an independent medical board for the purpose of conducting random drug tests in professional sports. This committee would make public the results of all tests it administers so that the various leagues would have no choice but to suspend or band any player in violation with established drug policies. Perhaps then professional sports could recover some of its credibility with the public. I for one am tired of kangaroo jumping, Paul Bunyan slugging, roadrunning, mammalian steroid freaks and the seemingly uncaring fans who adore them. Why don't we just suit up a bunch of teambots?
I have one final sobering thought. If the professional sports board is successful, why not then have Congress establish testing boards for the various branches of government (no executive privilege here) and licensed professions like attorneys, psychiatrists, and therapists, etc? And don't even get me started on Hollywierd!
