Bush's popularity continues to sink. Over at Political Arithmetik Charles Franklin has his trend at 28.9%, a new low for Bush.
Yet, in trials of the 2008 presidential race, it remains close.
I haven't seen a lot of polls of 2008 house and senate races, but we want to win a lot of seats, and there are quite a lot of vulnerable Republican seats (and some Democratic ones)
How to win a huge victory?
The Republicans are distancing themselves from Bush. Of course, they are free to say whatever they want - first amendment and all. But so are we. (It does still apply to us, does it not?)
We need to be tying them to Bush with hoops of steel. They rode with him when he was at 90%, let them fall with him at under 30%. Let's make lists, in key races of vulnerable Republicans, of how often the representative or Senator voted with the party.
The key meme is "George Bush and the Republicans". They are the ones who got us into Iraq. They are the ones who most fervently supported the Stolen Freedom act. They are the ones who diagnosed Terri Schiavo by e-mail. George Bush and the Republicans.
Why are they distancing themselves from Bush?
they are rats deserting a sinking ship
Is this working for us in Congressional approval?
(top for approval, bottom for disapproval)
sort of, but not enough. In late 2001, the two parties (Bush at 90%) the two parties were about equal. Now (Bush at 28%) Democrats are ahead by about 5% on approval and 10% on disapproval
In terms of the 2008 presidential race?
sort of, but not enough. Many races are still close.
When you mention Bush, say "Bush and the Republicans". When you blog here, when you talk to friends in meat-space, when you write LTE....all the time.
