Let's pay attention to what didn't happen.
Here we are in the middle of a war. Our fellow citizens are in harm's way. Soldiers are dying daily. Along comes July 4th, the day of our great patriotic celebration. Our Commander in Chief is too impotent (?shy, embarrassed, scared, isolated, arrogant, stupid, confused, disliked ????) to show his face in public and even try to exhort/lead us in either celebration or in a mobilization of civic support for his war policy. Except for a perfunctory speech before a military audience he is missing in action. This is indeed a very sad state of affairs. Let us recognize this and do what we can to get the wheels of democracy working a little faster. Time to get a new Commander!
