Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. Those who have forgotten history will experience deja vu (as Yogi said) all over again.
Does that video make you feel like we've been here before. Let's talk.
You may or may not remember that vignette from Nixon's first year in office. At that time the majority of the casualties in Vietnam were yet to come and America had elected Nixon to end the war. We all know how that ended - over fifty three thousand American soldiers dead and 5,000,000 total casualties.
Now, as we listen to the same rhetoric from another administration it is fitting to reflect and consider our choices. The war in Iraq will end badly! Will it end with choppers evacuating people from embassy rooftops? Will casualties more than double before we get out of Iraq? Only time will tell but can we afford the time.
Should we allow even one more American to die in Cheney's war for reelection and profit? Should we march in Washington on September 15th in support of impeachment? The Bush administration wants the war to end on someone else's watch because they know it will end badly. Can America afford to let them dump the catastrophe that is the Iraq War on the next president? If we do, I fear the next president will be a one term lame duck from day one.
What say you?
