Here is a quick bit of not-surprising, but still satisfying info for you late night folks. The first poll has come in from the Post-Libby Pardon period. I know that you will all be surprised that it didn’t go so well for the chimp; he dropped below 30% in the USA Today poll. That might not seem like a lot, but USA Today is typically on the upper end of the approval ratings. Bush approval in this poll was holding fairly steady in the mid 30s for several months. After the pardon? Below 30%. I can’t wait for Atrios to dress up the pony. My guess is that in the next week or two, as other polls come in that typically don’t give Bush such "high" initial levels of support, we will enter new territory, i.e., lower than Truman.
Worst. President. Ever. Maybe someone can persuade Broder to print another column predicting a bounce in the polls. A Double Broder could put Bush into single digits.
