I want to talk to you today about a top priority here at the DCCC, helping Larry Kissell, a true grassroots Democrat. Last November, Larry Kissell, a former mill worker and current public school teacher, came within 329 votes of defeating Republican Robin Hayes in North Carolina's 8th district.
North Carolina's 8th district is one of our best opportunities to expand our Democratic Majority. Despite being outspent 2–to–1 by Republican Rubber Stamp Robin Hayes, Larry turned the race into a photo–finish. This year, Larry has picked up right where he left off by running a strong campaign because, unlike Robin Hayes, Larry Kissell understands the problems people in the district face.
The North Carolina's 8th district is a top target for us to expand our Democratic Majority and I am confident that with your continued support we can win it. Together, we have to keep the pressure on Republican Robin Hayes’ failed record.
The DCCC is dedicated to helping get the Kissell campaign on track for a strong start this cycle. In fact, we are holding an event here in Washington to help retire the $19,000 in personal debt Larry put on his credit card so that Larry can get to work and finish what his campaign started last year.
Those of you in the area (or those that want to make the trip) are welcome to join us and come meet Larry Kissell for yourself.
