In February 2007 I wrote a diary that included the following poll:
If Hillary Clinton is the 2008 Democratic nominee
I will hold my nose and vote for her
40% 162 votes
I will vote for her and work to elect her
36% 147 votes
I will vote for someone else
16% 65 votes
I will not vote
7% 31 votes
The speeded-up primary season means that now is the time Democrats must begin thinking about general election strategy.
Hillary Clinton hoped to have the nomination put away by now. It's increasingly obvious that she hasn't closed the deal yet. Her strategy of decreasing her negatives by constant exposure to the voters, which worked so well for her in New York, has not convinced many more Democrats to support her than supported her when she announced.
Nonetheless I do sense a softening toward her among the general public, evidenced by warmer reaction at rallies, etc. I thought it would be interesting to repeat a poll I took in February 2007 on this question.
I am particularly interested to see if the broadening-out of Kos due to O'Reilly's ad campaign on the site's behalf has affected the vote.
Please recommend this diary so I can get a big sample! Thanks, Kevv
