I am tied up in knots. We are getting ready to close on a house this afternoon, so I'm home from work early. All I am thinking when it's not Barry's campaign is packing, packing and MORE packing.
I am also tied up in knots over our regional media. I am Sherri Welsh, wife of Barry Welsh, Congressional Candidate for Indiana's 6th District, I diary using the name "Congressional Candidates Wife".
I am really impressed and to be honest relieved with the way Barry and the campaign have hit the ground running. We have some extremely excellent people (can I say extremely excellent? I feel like I'm on one of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures). One of the biggest newspapers in the district was covering an event Barry was attending. It is indeed going to be different this time.
Here is the report from The Anderson Herald-Bulletin on The MoveOn.org event yesterday.
Some concerns follow.
My first concern is that they misspelled Barry’s name, and therefore my name. It is Welsh not Walsh! Well it is important to name recognition. ;o)
I guess my biggest concern is in the opening line of the article:
However it is measured — in dollars, lives or resources — the cost of the war in Iraq is too high for some.
One has to question: WHO thinks the war is adequately or even yes, excellently managed? Financially? Logistically? Morally? Why is the cost too high ONLY for some? Just on a human level rather than a partisan level - really, who doesn't think that we've paid enough for this war??
Moving on, they misquoted Barry in the first direct quote however, they did get this almost right.
"We need bridges and roads, not bombs that explode."
I will say, they didn’t make the MoveOn people sound like flakes or anything; I think they came off really well.
Click on the article and read some of the comments to get an idea of what Barry is battling. I will post a couple of them now for your amusement. This is from the online article with the comments on the story below:
. Moveon is a neo-marxist, left wing extremist organization. It has no credibility. It was formed by extremist to cover up the crimes of the Clinton administration. Send these clownes to Iraq so they can learn first hand about the terrorists and the threat to the world.

Mike Pence is one of the best politicians I know. He has more integrity than probably 99.9% of any politician who has been set foot in Washington. HB, how many protesters were there? Just think, all of that money could have been used to clean up all of the destruction caused by terrorists on American soil too! And remember, the terrorists make it a jihad or religious war, not us.
And just so you know not all are crazy:
Good to see someone cares about the money. The war has created more haters of Americans and the ranks of those who oppose us are swelling. Occupying Iraq with 14 permanent bases(4 more on the drawing table) does nothing for making Iraqis feel free. The time to start removing troops is now.

While the primary focus today is on the financial cost to this district and this country, the cost in human lives broken, and families torn apart, and lives lost, this cost can not be fully measured, but we honor them and remember them here today.
There are those that want to harm our nation, and they remain based in Afghanistan and the provinces of Pakistan and we were misguided into a war with Iraq when the focus should have remained on those responsible for attacking our country.
We remain focused in Iraq when we should be focusing on our bridges and roads not bombs that explode.

How ironic is it that one has to report on the news in order to make sure the news is being reported as news and without bias in the news media? But at least it made the papers so that's pretty good.
So this is what I propose, if we all are serious about getting rid of Pence, we need to get the real message out to everyone, all across the country and to reveal Pence’s voting record for what it is - Abhorant.
It is going to be a long sixteen months, (sigh!).
