As I'm sure we have all heard by now, Cheney had said, some 9 years before the current war, some of the liberal talking points that are being spoken today. Some of the comments on the Youtube video say that the interview must be fake, a voiceover. This isn't too difficult to accept for conservatives who have already disowned reality as the only logical explanation for continuing to support this administration.
But consider it, in 9 years time, Cheney changes his mind and takes the country to war, even though he knew it will hurt the nation, and does the very thing he thought was unwise. In only 9 years time. No, I don't think that he has forgotten what he had felt before, after all, if he advising Bush I on the Gulf War, surely he would have remembered. But that is not the point. It seems that after naming himself the vice presidential nominee, doing something, say, indecent, can be pretty fulfilling. The whole point of the war, some may say, is over Halliburton. Even Bush had to sacrifice some, his friend, the Saudis have decried the war.
The point is, Dick Cheney knew full well that a war in Iraq would distabilize the region and now that his prediction has come true, why does he want to continue our involvement? The same reason why Halliburton continues to rip off taxpayers for bad products. So no, Cheney hasn't changed his opinion over time, unlike his puppet, he's smarter than that. His character, however has changed some, as Gerald Ford himself has noted. Although I have thought Ford, he shows us what a Republican should be and I do admire him, must be out of his mind if he thought Cheney was a nice guy before.
The point is, if we want the brain in the White House to stop funding this war, but are forced to submit of war funding bill, this is the least we can do. Include a provision that bans Halliburton from owning stock in this war. Or at least until they pay back all the unaccounted for taxpayer money.
