What if there is no 2004 election?
We have been talking about this: the meme coming from some right-wingers is "We can't let our elections be influenced by a terror attack... so we need to prepare to postpone them just in case..."
I have a theory on all this...read on...
What if WE carried out the Spain attacks?
Sure, they can finger a few muslims in Spain, but what if we were behind it (or even simply "encouraging" it?) Why would we do this?
Ironically:
- To scare the Spanish people into re-electing the government backing us in Iraq
- As a dry run for a pre-election attack on America
Of course, like all Bush plans, it was poorly thought out and the Spanish people saw through it- and threw out the Bush-backing regime.
Unfortunately, I don't think the same would happen here. Even worse, I don't think they would give voters the chance.
It sounds to me like all this talk about election influencing is designed to test the will of the American people on whether they would tolerate a cancelled election. Further, its obvious any delayed "election" would really mean increased power for Bush and Co. for an indefinate period of time.
How can we let people know that if this were to happen, we would take to the streets and that this would be intolerable?
Should Kerry, if this meme continues, make an advance statement casually mentioning that he would expect elections to be carried on no matter what the circumstance?
