I read a front page diary by MissLaura which contained this line:
"I'd add that if you buy bottled water on any kind of regular basis, I don't want to hear you complaining about the price of gas."
Maybe it just caught me in a bad mood, but my blood boiled and here's why...
My house is well over 130 years old. It's not one of those victorian jewels that oozes century-old charm, either. It's a small workman's cottage that somehow survived decades longer than it was ever meant to. When I first moved in I quicky noticed a "taste" to the water, so I started buying bottled water for drinking. I almost never drink the tap water in my home. I simply don't trust it.
Now, for me to even type out a justification for why I drink bottled water kind of defeats the purpose of this diary, which is to ask MissLaura what exactly gives her the right to stand in judgement over how I spend my money? I feel my choice is more than sensible given my circumstances, but even if it was made on a whim, so what? Are my thoughts on energy now invalidated because I dare to do something MissLaura doesn't approve of? I'm used to this kind of moral judgement from social conservatives, but I don't see why I should tolerate it here.
