Hi Everyone! It is the last weekend in August, the summer has been flying by and kids are now heading back to school. Soon the fall campaign season will be in full swing. However the candidates have all been busy, no one less than John Edwards and his family. This weekend they have been on their second bus tour, the first was in Iowa and this one was in New Hampshire. Lots of pictures and stories available on the johnedwards.com website or the edwards blog. Tonight the focus is on Edwards responding to questions in various venues.

1. Face the Nation Interview Today
Great interview - enjoy thanks to NCDem Amy for the Youtubes.
Part I - John discussing the Iraq war
Part II - EE's involvement in the campaign and her role as First Lady
2. Just Say No Video
This is a clip from Edwards Speech: "To Build One America, End the Game"
Some Quotes from the video:
Will corporate profits work for democracy and not the other way around?
Will corporate greed be all that we value as we move forward in this new global economy or will we put workers and families first, so that all jobs pay fair wages and every American has health care?
It is time for my party, the Democratic party, the party of the people to end it. The choice for our party could not be clearer, we cannot replace a group of corporate Republicans for a group of corporate Democrats .... it is not what we need. It is time to make a clear statement about who we are as a party.
3. Manchester and Salem through the Eyes of Cate Edwards
Cate continues her blogging on the tour. Some quotes:
We met Mom and Dad after their home run appearance on Face the Nation, and made our way to City Hall in Manchester for a town hall.
~~
When we pulled up, Jack decided that he'd like to announce Mom and Dad's arrival. He got on the mike and said, in his deepest 7-year-old voice, "Please welcome Elizabeth Edwards, and the next President of the United States, John Edwards!"
~~
As I walked around I could feel the energy and excitement - a group of letter carriers that had come wearing t-shirts with their union's logo, a little boy on a bike decorated with a "John Edwards 2008" bumper sticker, and even a dog wearing a John Edwards sticker on his head!
4. Other Diaries of Interest about the NH Tour
A great report by AmberPaw with details of the meeting: Report from John Edwards One America Tour in New Hampshire Manchester stop - I was there!
A delightful and enthusiastic account of an event in NH by sobermom and soberboy.
Lots of great pictures. John Edwards last night in Merrimack w/pix

5. Ballad of the Soldier's Wife by Kurt Weil - Performed by PJ Talent
The theme of today on the NH tour was Ending the Iraq war and taking care of veterans and their families. It made me think about how their lives are disrupted and how their families and loved ones share the burdens of the war. This has been true throughout history. This song seemed appropriate to share today.
A great cabaret song based on the life of a soldier in WWI and his wife. Still relevant today
