With members of Congress taking their summer vacations this month, organizing a Honk to Impeach action outside their district offices is a great way to turn up the heat and give them a loud reminder that there's important business that the people want them to be doing right now!
Read more to see how this tactic may have influenced one Congressman to sign on to H. Res. 333.
Cheryl Biren-Wright wrote to share this: Rep. Robert Brady (D., Pa.) just signed onto H Res 333. I'd like to share an interesting tidbit - bob brady's district office is on s. broad street in philadelphia just on the other side of city hall from where we had our "honk for impeach" during rush hour on n. broad street yesterday. i can attest that the honking never ceased - it was one steady stream of noise - the people want it! An idea for others who plan rush hour impeach "honk fests," i had on hand pre-printed impeach postcards for people to sign and send to their reps. Most drivers were very eager to take them.
And from Kentucky comes this: Mark Twain is reported to have said that "when the end of the world comes I want to be in Kentucky, because there it will come 20 years later." If that is true George W. Bush should have been impeached several years ago. I have been taking photos and shooting videos of political protest here in Kentucky for several years and have never seen so many people honking for the impeachment of a sitting president. I suggest when Kentucky is ready to impeach George W. Bush and "Shotgun" Dick Cheney, the Bush Administration is in real trouble.
WATCH THIS GREAT VIDEO FROM THE HONK TO IMPEACH IN KENTUCKY:
We should get videos like this from all over the country.
There are ongoing Honk to Impeach events in about 18 locations nationwide. We should have at least one in every state. Find one near you or start your own.
We suggest having impeachment petitions on hand for people to sign, wearing orange, and--if you can--handing out free impeachment bumper stickers.
UPDATE: The newly-formed Northeast Impeachment Coalition writes "Dozens of towns and cities across the Northeast will join in the national Honk to Impeach actions being held weekly at high visibility locations, to help those who are entrenched in business and politics as usual to understand just how many Americans want impeachment and the return to constitutional law."
ALSO: I'd like to propose that the Honk to Impeach and the Enough campaigns join forces. Why not "Had Enough? Honk to Impeach!"
