A couple of months ago I posted a diary about my interaction with Joe from the DCCC. Joe was insulting and pushy and didn't get a penny from me that day; I almost hung up on Joe.
Well, Joe, or at least Joe's cousin, called back tonight. Seems they're having a Labor Day fundraising push.
And this got me thinking about opportunities to send a message about the coming vote on supplemental funding.
What I kept telling Joe was that I was not going to make a donation until I saw what was going to happen on the vote for the supplemental for the war. I made it very, very clear that I was not at all happy with what has happened regarding the FISA bill and some of the other pieces of legislation on which the Democrats, frankly, caved. And I was particularly upset about what I had been reading recently, from some members of the House and Senate leadership, about how they were 'inclined' to vote for the war funding. Although I could barely get a word in edgewise, I made it very clear that I was not going to support a vote to continue funding Bush's war.
I could go into the specifics of how Joe insulted the bejeezle out of me personally, but that's really not the point. Although I do think the DCCC needs to get a better group, frankly, of hired fundraisers. Pushy isn't going to go far with me.
But the main reason I bring it up is because Joe said, specifically, that the DCCC is on a mission this weekend. Many of us who have given money in the past are likely to be called. We've had a number of diaries in the past 24 hours about our frustrations with the caving, fear-laden Democrats.
Can we use this as an oppotunity to get a message out? That we're fed up and we're not going to take it anymore?
No money until they vote the way WE want them to on the war. None.
Which is to say, no more funding for Bush's war. Or no funding for the Democratic congressional leadership.
What do you think?
