This will be a quickie diary, but the message offered in it is too important to pass up.
Kent Jones, Professional Comic Relief of Air America's Rachel Maddow Show, hit on a metaphor with great depth and strength today, a metaphor that really sums up my personal reaction to the Bush Administration's leak to Roll Call on Monday, and to everything that has followed inevitably from it.
I offer the MP3 audio of Kent Jones' insight to you here.
I urge you to listen to all 45 seconds of it, and ponder its wisdom.
Then follow me over to the corpus.
We must all remember that Karl Rove isn't really gone; he won't be gone until he is frogmarched into a federal prison cell, and even then, we'll have to hold him incommunicado to keep him from doing more damage. Until that day, Turdblossom continues to serve as Bush's Brain by remote control. When a diversion is called for, he'll always have one ready; and Larry Craig is just the latest and greatest "Look over here!" shiny toy thrown in front of a greedy press. Hell, he's even taken in our boy Keith Olbermann, who has spent entirely too much time on that saggy old closet queen this week, and entirely too little time on the Bush maladministration's ongoing destruction of the Justice Department, New Orleans, the Middle East and America's reputation around the world.
Let us not get so caught up in the pleasure of Schadenfreude that we turn our attention from what's really important.
As Mr. Jones so aptly put it, "Focus! Guard the fridge!"
