This is an email I sent to Adrian Smith (R-Neb), my congressional representative, after his "aye" vote to authorize Bush's warrantless wiretapping:
Dear Mr Smith:
Well, I guess since you voted to legalize Bush's unconstitutional warrantless wiretapping program, a program that allows his majesty to spy on U.S. citizens for no reason other than he doesn't like a particular citizen's ideas, a program that tramples on everyone's civil liberties, including yours, then you won't mind if I ask to look in your wallet next time you visit your district. I'm sure you have nothing to hide, so I look forward to rifling through your wallet and seeing all of your personal information; credit card receipts, how much money you carry, shopping lists, etc. I will also request copies of all of your personal phone records and emails. Remember, you work for me (remember government of the people, by the people, for the people?) and what better way for a citizen to fight terrorism than making sure his Congressional representative has no ties to our enemies (its not that I don't trust you--but what's good for the goose is good for the gander).
Thanks again for helping to bring us one goose step closer to full-blown fascism. You have brought shame on all the citizens of the 3rd district.
Cheers,
Thomas Tucker
I hope others will write their congressional representative to thank them for selling out our civil liberties to fear and paranoia.
