WikiScanner got quite a bit of press shortly after it's launch. However, one of the features - the ability to look up changes by page title - was not made available right away. This feature is still disabled on the page, but you can now use this feature by putting the name of the page you want to look up in this URL:
http://wikiscanner.virgil.gr/...
For example, this URL shows the changes to the Sibel Edmonds page:
http://wikiscanner.virgil.gr/...
I was thinking that it would be interesting to find the IP addresses that were used to make changes on several pages. For example, if someone is making changes to both the Sibel Edmonds page and the Michael Ledeen page, then it might be interesting in seeing what other changes were being made from that IP.
So, I have started by pulling the data from these pages:
- Valerie Plame
- Sibel Edmonds
- Michael Ledeen
- American Enterprise Institute
- American Turkish Council
- Halliburton
- Brookings Institute
Then I copied the data from that page to an Excel spreadsheet and imported that data to a new table in Access. By creating a separate table for each data set, you can then create queries by joining the IP address fields from two tables and see if you get any matches. (I realize there are better ways to do this in a database, this is just my quick down-and-dirty route.)
Of the data I pulled, here are the IP addresses that are common to these pages:
Shared between Sibel and Ledeen:
24.28.64.98
Shared between Ledeen and Plame:
24.91.139.28
Shared between Ledeen and AEI:
68.48.248.64
Shared between ATC and Sibel:
65.243.75.5
Shared between Brookings and Ledeen:
137.28.21.86
Shared between Halliburton and Plame:
66.20.28.21
So far this doesn't mean too much. But with the power of the netroots doing some research, we might find some gems! Happy hunting!
