Texas oilman Oscar Wyatt -- a Democrat, the AP tells us -- is being investigated by the US Attorney for illegal dealings with Iraq under sanctions.
If we're looking at Wyatt, then let's look more closely at others who also broke that law; otherwise it's simply a witch hunt perpetrated by the all-too partisan Department of Justice.
In the early '90s Halliburton violated the federal trade sanctions against Iraq and Libya. These violations included, but were not limited to (of course not) selling them dual-use oil drilling equipment and sending six pulse neutron generators (!) to Libya. After pleading guilty, the company was fined $US1.2 million and another $US2.61 million in various penalties.
Of course, it was Cheney at the helm at the time. Whoa. Not surprising. Off course and reckless again.
But did Cheney ever pay a price? Was he investigated? Nope again.
A foreign-incorporated subsidiary of Halliburton, also under Cheney's direction, opened an office in Tehran.
Wow.
A US vice president violating the Trading With Enemies Act. Well, I'd say we need the same US Attorney to start up another investigation.
Most of this is available at Wiki, Halliburton.
So many criminals, not enough rope :-/
