Mike McConnell was just on ABC's Good Morning America in a segment asking "Are we safer after 9/11?" I was only half listening to the standard talking points when he was asked if it's true that many in the intelligence community have taken to referring to Bin Laden as "Elvis." He said it was a joking reference. This blew my mind. They all know he's dead. It's become a joke to them. Like "Elvis lives."
Well. I guess I don't have a lot more to add to that. There's a reason I'm not a prominent diarist here. I'm not a prolific writer.
Still, I did a search and found only one hit to Bin Laden and Elvis in this diary by L C Johnson.
Apparently, the comparison is a running joke known even to the Director of National Security, Mike McConnell.
Mojo Nixon had it right. Here's Mojo Nixon singing "Elvis is Everywhere." Here's Mojo's "(619)239-KING" to report Elvis sightings.
Have you spotted Elvis?
