I find it hard not to think "Betray Us" when I hear his name (Petraeus). Great job Move On!
I think Move-On hit on a catchy phrase that's hard to get out of ones mind. And unbeknownst to the right-wingers they are helping Move-On cement Betray Us in the minds of people when they hear the word Petraeus. It's hard not to. This dawned on me yesterday when I listened to the news and heard people say Petraeus but mentally it came across as if they said Betray Us. Is as if I didn't hear the "P" anymore but had unconsciously inserted the "B". It's weird ... Reminds me of the George Lakoff book "Don't think of an Elephant!"
I wonder will this ad have the Swift Boat effect? That group paid little for the ad but it got played over and over on the news. There was outrage from the Dems saying, "How could they say this about the decorated John Kerry who served our country!!? (Repubs are playing that role now except their guy is Gen. Betray Us"). But the Swift Boat ad kept getting air time until it saturated the public psyche. Now here are the Repubs waving the Move On ad everywhere and anywhere they get an opportunity to speak. Then Guilli runs an ad about the Move On ad in the NY Times giving it more shelf life.
