This is the 5th installment of Action Diary Rescue, a roundup of action-oriented diaries by Kossacks and other random actions I've stumbled across. Please add more in the comments.
For the featured action this week, most of us are familiar with the Jena Six, a group of young African Americans facing prison time for daring to defend themselves against racism. Tomorrow, thousands of people all over the country will be wearing black and/or green to show solidarity with thousands of others who will be protesting in Jena.
More activisty goodness below the fold.
First, some reruns from Friday’s edition of A.D.R...
Diarist Jdalton describes the continuing campaign against American Eagle outfitters for not taking steps to enforce its Code of Conduct of Vendors and Contractors. They're mistreating their workers and resisting unionization efforts. The campaign is student-focused, but anyone can help.
DyspepTex diaries about Seven Straight Nights, a week for straight people to show their support for the LGBT community coming up October 7-13. So far there are events planned in 24 cities across 20 states, but they’re hoping to do more. If you’re interested in hosting a vigil, check out the diary or their website for more.
Interested in the 50 state strategy or the art of precinct organizing? Diarist blizek talks about Democracy for America’s continuing training program for activists everywhere. Not too late to join and get in on a conference call or two.

New episodes...
Steven D introduces the idea of a general strike on 10.17.07 to stop the war. Seems like we’ve tried everything else, so why the F not? They don’t seem to have much in the way of organization, though.
Granny Doc has a framing idea: if the GOP is going to be so gung ho about keeping us bogged down in Iraq, let's just be open about it. In fact, let's make T shirts: "Stop this / Republican war / Vote Democratic."
Juls diaries about the unfolding situation involving DeathINC BlackwaterUSA. Includes a petition from the Courage Campaign opposing BW plans to open a training facility in California.
Ruben Salazar discusses No Child Left Behind and includes a petition calling for its dismantling.

Bite Sized...
DFA petition calling for withdrawal from Iraq.
DCCC petition demanding an apology from John Boehner for remarking that we’ve paid "a small price" in Iraq (h/t to BlueThunder)
Care2 petition calling for improvements to Medicare.

Random meta announcement: Look for A.D.R. on Wednesday evenings at 9ET/6PT from now on.
Random meta question: If I posted an open thread asking people to leave links to petitions and other action items, do you think anyone would? Just an idea.
