September isn't feeling so magical, on either international or baseball terms.
The "surge" isn't working. The neocons, as parroted by W, want an "enduring" relationship with Iraq. Enduring war, they really mean, and endless warrantless spying and wiretapping on Americans, just as one example. Democrats seem ready to capitulate.
The recent Braves surge isn't working either. They've been playing great baseball this month, but they're simply running out of time. No playoffs, no World Series hopes for us this year. I guess it was obvious it couldn't last forever.
My beloved "America's Team" may be going down. Still, there's always next year in baseball. At least the Braves have a Manager who fiercely stands up for his players. I think it's cool that Bobby Cox has now broken the alltime record for getting thrown out of games for arguing with umpires.
Speak truth to power, much?
Atlanta's heat wave seems to have broken. But the smoggy haze lingers. As does my despair.
