According to the twin internet pillars of the neocon propaganda establishment, Drudge and Politico, the MoveOn.org ad is not worthy of the controversy it inspired in some of the media.
How do I know? Because they told me...
They told me by not featuring the story prominently at any time over the past several days. Drudge is deep in tabloid/Rudy/Hillary world. Politico is trotting out quasi-analysis pieces focusing on Iraq votes, but not the ad controversy.
On both sites, the MoveOn controversy is only dealt with in a cursory fashion. No red sirens, no "Developing...."
Why is this significant? By not blowing the MoveOn story up, Drudge and Politico -- who, remember, are the absolute nexus of all GOP talking points -- are telegraphing that the MoveOn ad will in fact have its intended effect: Effectively moving the war debate to the left, into the waiting arms of 70 percent of the public.
Let's face it: If either outlet thought this would help Republicans, they'd be trumpeting it with all manner of red sirens and the like.
MoveOn bought more than a newspaper ad. They bought the antiwar left a seat at the table inside the Beltway. That's why both parties were so angry with them. A tipping point was reached, brought on by an external force, and they're pissed about it.
It's working, folks. It's working. Have patience, and have a great weekend.
