Every day of September (almost) I'm making a contribution to a new candidate, announcing it here on Daily Kos, and encouraging you to join me. If one person matches my contribution on my ActBlue page, I'll double my contribution; if ten people match it, I'll triple. Details here.
Yesterday Aeolus and jnhobbs each matched my contributions to not only Scott Harper, but also Samm Simpson and our own Barry Welsh (among others), so today I'm sending each of those fine candidates another $20.
What's right with Kansas? Nancy Boyda. Follow me below the fold for more.
Nancy Boyda lost in Kansas' PVI R+7 second district in 2004 with the help of the DCCC. In 2006, with the netroots' help and a grassroots campaign, she won it and she is now the district's representative in Congress. It's a great success story, and she's got a remarkably good voting record, considering her district. withthelidoff suggested her inclusion in this series, and I'm happy to to add Nancy to the list.
Last week I found myself on a focus group for the DCCC; it was an interesting experience. I'm no fan of the DCCC and said as much; I cited the Cegelis/Duckworth race and the Busby campaign; I might as well have cited Boyda's history with the group. The best candidates, and the best representatives, aren't chosen from on high, and the races aren't won from DC.
hilltopper posted a diary recently encouraging contributions to Nancy; there's good information and good links there, so please check it out.
Nancy faces another tough election in '08 - she's on Rove's House targets list and there's a lot of money lined up against her. So let's line up some money on her side before the third quarter ends; Nancy, here's $20 from me.
Here's Nancy's website.
