Before anyone goes off on me for posting some CT crap, please read the whole story. While it is true some other sites have been following this story and have made claims, I waited until McClatchy and Yahoo News ran the story to write about it. Two reputable News Sites. First the basics.
MEXICO CITY — U.S. authorities are assisting the Mexican government in the investigation of an American business jet that crashed near Cancun this week with four tons of cocaine on board, officials said Thursday....
Some news reports have linked the plane to the transport of terrorist suspects to the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but those reports cite logs that indicate only that the plane flew twice between Washington, D.C., and Guantanamo and once between Oxford, Conn., and Guantanamo. No terrorist suspects are known to have been transferred to Guantanamo directly from the United States.
The jet, carrying the tail number N987SA, changed hands twice in recent weeks. But how it ended up in the hands of suspected drug traffickers remains a mystery. Who owned drug plane that crashed in Mexico?
Does this get your attention ?
To keep from being banned from dkos I will refrain from linking to questionable sites that have more detailed reports on this airplane and it's tail number. I'm sure all of you know how to Google once you have the basic info. You already have the planes tail number, and now we know only so many types of people are allowed at Gitmo. CIA, NSA, The Army and probably a few other governmental agenys with alphabet names, the question is how were they connected to this plane and why ?
I have researched some of those reports over the last couple days and have faith that much of the info is true and can be proved to a extent. Reports on this tail number seem to go back as far as Bush I's days in the White House as VP, so many of you will understand what that could mean or at least cast suspicion on.

The Mexican attorney general's office said the blue and white Gulfstream II crashed on Monday in a remote jungle area on the Yucatan Peninsula. Authorities seized 132 bags of cocaine weighing four tons. Two men were arrested and jailed on drug trafficking charges in Merida, officials said. They declined to identify the men, however.
The possiblity that this plane goes as far back as the Iran-Contra Affair should raise many a eyebrow. At the time Pres. Bush I pardoned 6 people involved in some way. Those people are Elliott Abrams, Duane R. Clarridge, Alan Fiers, Clair George, Robert C. McFarlane, and Caspar W. Weinberger. Another bit of trivia of the time is that the current Sec. of Def. Gates worked for BushI as his Director of Central Intelligence from 1991–1993. For those of you too young to remember Iran-Contra Wiki has a decent summary even if it is short on the details. http://en.wikipedia.org/... It does remind us that :
Senator John Kerry's 1988 U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations report on Contra drug links, which was released on April 13, 1989, concluded that "senior U.S. policy makers were not immune to the idea that drug money was a perfect solution to the Contras' funding problems."[33] The Kerry Committee report further stated that members of the U.S. State Department "who provided support for the Contras were involved in drug trafficking...and elements of the Contras themselves knowingly received financial and material assistance from drug traffickers."[34] Kerry was suspicious of North's connection with Manuel Noriega, Panama's drug baron. According to the National Security Archive, Oliver North had been in contact with Noriega and had met him personally.
Stories inside of stories. I make no claims other than this all seems a bit strange when looked at from a historic view. Strange that the names of those arrested have been kept secret since criminals rarely go unnamed. Strange that this plane with a history of flying to Gitmo went down carrying 4 tons of Coke. I'll leave it to the rest of you to form your own opinions as I often do. I don't have a theory of my own yet, but you can bet I'm paying attention and I'm not the only one looking into this.
