I am a member of a few online forums for military spouses. There are more than a few, shall we say, Bush lovin' bible thumpin' neo-cons. Recently a topic came up about a transgendered person. The discussion, of course, started to go downhill when a few "devout" people started quoting scripture as to why homosexuals are an abomination in the eyes of God.
What took the cake, though, was when one person wrote what they would do should one of their children ever come to them and say they were gay. Here is my parody of, and response to, their statement:
"If, one day, I found out anyone in my family was homophobic - even my mother or my child. I would continue to love them, like God does. I would go with them to counseling, consult our minister, anything I could do to help them...and if they still insisted on being homophobic...well, I would still love them, but I couldn't say that I would support their choice."
I just wanted to share my retort in case you ever have someone have the ignorance and audacity to say to you what I just read on that forum thread.
