American Land Rights Association:
By ambushing Senator Larry Craig, the Minneapolis St Paul Airport Police have effectively declared war on the West. They are primarily responsible for greatly weakening private property rights and Federal land use advocates in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and in Congress. We are urging you to make all your flight arrangements avoiding the Minneapolis-St Paul Airport for at least the next year and probably longer. We’ll keep you posted as the boycott develops. Urge your friends, neighbors and fellow workers to try to avoid any flights that take them through Minneapolis St Paul Airport. We must inflict economic pain on the airport authorities to get them to change their behavior. -----And they must apologize to Senator Larry Craig.
Follow below the fold....
At first I did not get the logic, but then it dawned on me. How often have we seen this tactic by the Republican Party. Remember the paid operatives in Florida in 2000, The SwiftBoat Veterans.
"They are primarily responsible for greatly weakening private property rights and Federal land use advocates in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and in Congress."
The Minneapolis Airport Security is responsible for weakening federal land use and property rights?
I take this boycott to mean Craig was on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and his arrest somehow hurts their cause. But to blame the airport security for doing their job is just ridiculous. In order for this boycott to make any sense at all, there wold have to be a conspiracy in place. The Airport Security would have to know Craig was flying into the airport at that specific time. Lets not also forget they would have to know he needed to use the restroom and which specific restroom he would use. They would also have to know he would accidentally play footsie with the guy in the next stall. So much for the "in the wrong place at the wrong time" defense. The use of smear tactic like this highlight everything wrong with the Republican Party: when a mistake has been made the do everything possible to make the other guy look responsible so you can avoid any culpability.
Remember how these guys used to beat up on liberals for our lack of personal responsibility?
I do not think Senator Craigs behavior rises to the level of breaking the law. It, nevertheless, is his behavior and as such it is his responsibility, not the airport security at Minneapolis Airport. To the degree this hurts The America Land Rights folks resposability ultimatley falls to Senator Craig.
We should not let the Republicans get away with this tactic... ever again.
