Every day of September I'm making a contribution to a new candidate, announcing it here on Daily Kos, and encouraging you to join me. If one person matches my contribution on my ActBlue page, I'll double my contribution; if ten people match it, I'll triple. Details here.
Yesterday dconrad, withthelidoff, TekBoss, and SallyCat (again!) all joined me in contributing to Charlie Brown's campaign - and, I see, together we took Charlie's ActBlue total over the $50,000 mark. That's a nice number. And it'll be (a tiny bit) nicer still with the matching $20 I'm sending Charlie today. Thanks, all.
Withthelidoff suggested today's candidate, New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter. Follow me below the fold to find out why I'm so happy to support her re-election.
Carol's 52-48 victory (click through for a great campaign reminiscence!) in 2006 was a surprise to many; New Hampshire was widely regarded as safely Republican.
Carol Shea-Porter is feisty. She's been doing great work in the House; Carol recently introduced HR.3045, a bill to prevent the courts from considering Presidential signing statements when interpreting laws.
This 50-50 PVI district is considered vulnerable; see here, here, and here.
We need to win new seats in '08 - but we need to protect the ones we won in '06, too, so I'm happy to be sending Carol $20 today to help keep her voice and her vote in Congress. Won't you please join me?
Here's Carol's website.
