There is a misinformed "piling on" today. Some of the diaries are killing David Gregory. Yes, he is part of the MSM, but he stood out when it counted. HE WAS NOT LIKE THE REST OF THEM.
It is way too easy to jump on the Main Stream Media and the recent revelations from Scott McClellan's book. I understand that people, myself included, are so fed up with the once-again-verified reality of this administration's actions over the past two terms. And, I understand the flat out anger many of us have with the MSM for not doing their job.
It is true that the MSM, for the most part, let this administration skate. None of us is going to argue that.
But, back in '04/'05 I was in a supermarket in Nantucket and saw David Gregory in line in the next aisle. The place was just about to close.
My wife and I had just had dinner, and I was buying diapers or water or something.
I thought about approaching Mr. Gregory, but dinner included a few drinks, so I didn't want to be forever remembered as "the guy who made an ass out of himself in the check-out line." I figured, I would have another chance. It is a small island.
I really wanted to approach him and share my opinion...and I wish I did.
I wanted to say, "With the exception of Helen Thomas, you are the only one with any balls." Or, "Keep hammering those assholes."
David Gregory was not typical.
He was asking the hard questions. I believed it then. I believe it now.
Look at what was really happening.
Is it possible that Gregory is defending the indefensible for reasons that are somewhat honorable (that's an entirely different argument)?
These are his colleagues.
He is a rising star in the MSM and I doubt that he wants to spoil his welcoming party by throwing the rest of the lemmings under the bus.
Plain and simple.
He admitted today that they got it wrong. He could have easily pointed out that he was one of the VERY FEW that asked the hard questions. But, he didn't.
This piling on is off base.
