I keep reading people writing that making fun of McCain's teeth is immoral.
It may very well be unwise. It may make us look worse than any damage it does to him. However, we have to put most moral considerations aside.
We need to concentrate on winning, as winning is so important for the nation.
The only two moral considerations we should pay attention to is, "Is it a lie?" (We shouldn't post lies) and "Is it legal?" which more has to do with tactics than posts, but could be applied in a few cases to posts, or posts advocating illegal tactics.
Now, there is a third (non-moral) factor in the McCain teeth story, which is, "Is it so mean-- apparently for its own sake-- that it makes us look bad to post it?" 'McCain's teeth' may fail that test, in which case it's not immoral but unwise.
I do not want to take even a slight chance of losing the election out of being merciful to the domestic enemy: The Repugs and neocons.
There was some degree of argument about how far we should go with Hillary. She is a Democrat, even if how good of one is debatable, and we need her supporters to vote for Obama in November.
But with McCain, he's a Repug neocon who admittedly wouldn't be quite as bad as Dubya (but neither would a real chimp). Within domestic policy he is the enemy.
Repugs have beaten us too often because they were willing to use tactics we wouldn't use.
It's time to realize that we need to be equally, if wisely, vicious back to them. Even if we'll win the presidency either way, some Congressional and Senatorial seats may well ride on it.
If it hurts McCain, has no lies, isn't illegal and doesn't advocate illegal action, and it isn't the kind of attack that would backfire (the last category might eliminate the 'teeth'), then let's get out the rods and have at the McCain pinata.
