Obama is a candidate who talks about running a postive, uplifting campaign and many voters believe this because he always has someone else do the hit jobs!
But I think a lot of voters caught on to this Jekyll/Hyde persona in the last debate when the real Obama slipped out with his ugly somewhat snide response to Hillary in "You're likeable enough."
Even the debate commentator was taken aback. And there is a lot more to come out about him from his days as a wheeler/dealer in Chicago politics. So much for being a fighter for the downtrodden, when it is now documented he looked the other way when Rezko tenants were without heat and their housing proved to be substandard. The Rezko trial is probably going to punch a pretty big hole in his 'fairytale' if not sink it. But this diary is about how he plays the race card. Ready--
The outlandish comments by Obama's national campaign co-chair Jesse Jackson Jr. slamming Hillary for her fake tears and saying she didn't weep about Katrina. Actually Tod Beaton says it very well,
"Obama's national campaign co-chair, Jesse Jackson, Jr., just went on MSNBC and appeared to question Hillary's tears, which he called "tears that melted the Granite State," adding that those tears "moved voters." But then he says she didn't cry "in response to Katrina, not in response to other issues that have devastated the American people...the war in Iraq, we saw tears in response to her appearance. Her appearance brought her to tears but not Hurricane Katrina."
Along with many others I was puzzled by what seemed kinda crazy but mostly irrelevant and sour grapes. But then it dawned on me, and it apparently dawned on some others. He was playing the race card and telling all those south carolina black voters she didn't care about YOU!!!
Again Beeson is great
."The more I think about this, the more I get what's at work here. They know exactly what they're doing. Notice the repeated reference to Hurricane Katrina. He's using some odious dog-whistle politics here, trying to send the message to African Americans (in other words: South Carolina) that, to borrow a phrase, Hillary Clinton doesn't care about black people. Yeah, good luck with that."
Now Obama refused to silence the anti-homosexuality ranter MC on his gospel tour and chose instead to let him spew his bile. So you can damn well bet he isn't going to do anything about this clear race baiting. Why should he? He approves. Think not? Has there been one disclaimer?
I agree its dog whistle politics and like Karl Rove said about Obama in today's Wall St. Journal, he is a guy who often says one thing and does the other.
It is imperative Obama be vetted--and hard. Because the right will take him out so fast in the general election it will hurt. And we want someone who is electable. Obama is a time bomb waiting to go off. The Republicans can't wait for the Democrats to be so stupid as to nominate him.
