My question for anyone who lives in Michigan is simple: How do you plan on voting this Tuesday?
As you probably know, our only choices this election on the dem. side are between Hillary Clinton, Dennis Kuchinich, Mike Gravel, and "uncommitted."
Another option we have is to vote in the Republican contest, as suggested by Kos and pull some type of prank-like stunt by voting for Romney or some other jokester to potentially negatively affect a more formidable opponent like John McCain from claiming another victory.
As for myself, I am personally torn. I want to vote uncommitted, since my number one priority in this election has been and will continue to be to deny Clinton the nomination.
At the same time, I get the feeling that those of us voting uncommitted may just be throwing our votes away. Besides right here on Dkos, I just haven't heard anyone in Michigan outside of the netroots actually discuss this plan. Bottom line is that I just do not want to be a part of a very small contingent of voters who weigh in as being uncommitted, particularly if it ends up being 10% or less of the total vote on our side. That being said, I would be more than happy to be part of a 40 or 50% or so block of uncommitted voters.
If anybody has any thoughts at all, feel free to respond. However, if there are any native Michiganders reading this, I have some more specific questions for you:
- How big do you think the block of uncommitted voters is? Is there any sort of organized movement to vote uncommitted that is spreading the word to ordinary activists who extend beyond the netroots?
- Absent this information, how are you making your decision? Just who (or what) are you voting for?
