President Bust gave a major speech at 0645 EST today, Sunday January 13, 2008. He appears to have committed the United States to the occupation of Iraq forever. I have not yet found a transcript, I'm barely awake.
My brief impressions after the jump.
President George W. Bush in a speech today in The United Arab Emirates told a gathering of the governing elite of the Middle East that Iraq and all of the area’s nations are destined to have democratic governments. He used Europe, Japan and the democracies of east Asia as examples of the benefits of long term friendship with the United States. He assured the world that the United States is committed to the long-term security of the region. He made it very clear that the primary threat to the area’s security is Iran’s nuclear program and its support for terrorism.
This was billed as the President’s "Signature Speech" of his Middle East tour.
