Not the longest diary today, but I thought this article I read in the Bergen Record of NJ was very interesting. A few months ago we were critizing Circuit City for laying off there experienced work staff and replacing them with low paid newbies. Well Lookie here it backfired. Good for Circuit City
Read on to find out why Circuit City is having a great day today
Circuit City's staff cuts helped drive away shoppers
NEW YORK -- Corporate leaders who think they can slash expenses without customers noticing might want to give Circuit City Stores Inc.'s top brass a call. The electronics retailer is living the nightmare of cost-cutting gone bad.
The Richmond, Va.-based company has been in a downward spiral since it announced last spring that it would lay off thousands of experienced workers it candidly said it could replace with cheaper new hires.
Well people do want good service before they plop down 2,000$ for a flat screen TV or a new computer. I was in Circuit City the other day and asked someone a question about a lcd monitor. He had no clue what I was even talking about. For 9$ an hour I wouldn't have a clue either.
Hopefully someone in the board room wakes up and realizes that you can't convince American's to spend their hard earned money running away the jobs that they rely on. Hopefully as we move through the Campaign season we can increase the discussions on the pro's and con's of NEO CON free trade agreements.
And the article mentioned Best Buy. They are no better. They didn't even know what products were on sale for the week when I walked in there.
Update: I know our corporate media (big business) sets the agenda for the debates shown on TV, but does anyone know what the positions are of our candidates regarding jobs (Minus John Edwards-We know his views)
