With the unfortunate disclosure from Barack Obama that -- despite actually being an urban community organizer working street level opposition to Ronald Reagan -- he respects the political accomplishments of the man, is it time that we purge our ranks of all closet Reagan lovers?
I have to admit - despite being a hardcore supporter of Senator Obama's campaign, his desire to make sweet, sweet love to the corpse of Ronald Reagan has given me pause.
What's worse - my intrepid detective work has uncovered -- gasp! -- even more foul Reaganites among us.
I realize it is against DK policy to call out other members of our community. However - I cannot help but feel someone must be brave enough to out the Great Orange Satan himself.
Yes, that's right -- the ultimate double agent has fooled us all.
You see, none other than our very own host -- Markos Moulitsas Zuniga -- has confessed to having had "relations with that President". If -- my fellow pure-as-the-driven-snow liberals - if we do care about purity, I think it is the sad duty of us all to examine the evidence.
Sadly, I know I will not be around for the discussion. My bravery in exposing his infernal plot will certainly lead to my banishment, but forget not my voice!! Forget not the orange blood your faithful servant Zonk spilled this day....
Without further ado, I give you -- the evidence that we have all been duped:
From the Dailykos "About" page itself
After high school, Moulitsas served in the U.S. Army (1989-92) as a 13P -- Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Fire Direction Specialist. He trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and served the remainder of his three-year enlistment in Bamberg, Germany. While he entered the Army as a Republican, he abandoned the GOP soon after his enlistment.
From the The American Prospect -- we get even more details:
I was also a Republican. As a 17-year-old precinct captain in 1988, not even old enough to vote, I helped deliver one of the district's best precinct performances for Henry Hyde. I had a framed picture of me with George H. W. Bush.
Of course, that was a different time, a different Republican Party. And I was a different kind of Republican -- always socially liberal, committed to fiscal sanity, and willing to pay more than lip service to the concept of national service. Talk was cheap. I was going to wear combat boots.
Then - there's this in-depth piece from Mark Binelli on Guernica
...The family fled back to Chicago when Moulitsas was nine, and he became a fanatical supporter of Ronald Reagan (who backed El Salvador’s government as part of his anti-Communist strategy), even working as a Republican party precinct captain in high school.
But wait -- there's more....
For exam
....nothing to see here, people... move along... nothing to see here...
