It's because of the activism and overall support for real progressive values that warms my spirits back into this race. There is only one candidate who espouses such values. It’s exactly why the COM has shunned him and we felt the effects tonight, but it’s not right, to give up on the fight, that John Edwards brought into this campaign, because he has led on every issue. From being the first out of all the top tier candidates with a UHC plan with the words "single payer" in it in order to reach the goal that is apparently not important enough for Obama supporters, or being more seriously committed to ending the war in Iraq.
Oh and you can cut the Nader/Splitting the anti-Hillary vote BS now. Because it’s actually more likely that Edwards supporters are going to go into HRC’s camp if they were going to switch; which should be common knowledge now. Sorry, it’s time to retire that one. Yeah.... So sorry, not me. That is because of my fellow Edwards supporters; we don't let the COM tell us who the real progressive in this race, because we're not in this for celebrity status, we care about real people. I’m proud of that. Real people that John Edwards mentions everyday in his campaign, unlike the opposition. It kind of sends a message to me about who cares about what is important in this race.
The fact that we could get John this far with the obvious media bias(and yes it is, no "hope" will change the facts that have been pointed out to anyone with half a brain) is still an accomplishment that we should take with us till the end.
KingOneEye made a hell of an effort and it paid off. All of you should be proud, for the wonderful diaries and comments you all have written.
We are a progressive movement that will not be silenced; we will not falter or run to another candidate; we will stay and fight for people suffering in this country, by sticking with the only candidate who has seriously made this a priority, no matter how unimportant the COM and their candidates claim it's not important, by inaction or any other subtle brushoff.
We will be the progressives who care about consumer rights. We will be the progressives who remember that consumer rights are a relevant issue that stems to all of our problems in this country.
We will care about 37 million people living in poverty; we won't just make a speech about it.
We will care about those who are being wronged by corporations and really mean it; we support the only candidate with a clear record of fighting corporations while representing normal people who cry out for help.
We won't espouse any "pull yourself up by your boot straps" propaganda to make any abstract point to appeal to the opposition, trying to rationalize a Neo-Conservative worldview.
We won't espouse any "red scare" propaganda that has been historically dis-proven and we will not repeat any rhetoric of any kind that relates to Joseph McCarthy or Ronald Reagan with any respect whatsoever.
We will continue to pay attention to why we really don't have UHC and the lobby that defeated it in the 90's. We will continue to fight this lobby to take Congress back from their grip, so they cannot write our legislation.
We will not make excuses for it and we will acknowledge it as the problem.
This is how real progressives make their choice and every single one of my fellow Edwards supporters are real progressives.
I am proud to stand with all of you till the Democratic convention, because we know what we're fighting for. We don't let celebrity status or the COM do it for us.
To my fellow Edwards supporters; especially here on the Daily Kos; I am honored to post with you and your acceptance of me, my commentary, and my diaries has made me feel humble and welcome here.
We will keep fighting till the convention.
Thank you.
