As much as passionate supporters of all sides want to see their candidate triumph, a step back to view the score shows that we are in the early innings of rousing ballgame - and the score is tied.
By any number of measures, both Obama and Clinton can lay claim to victories that support their run for the nomination. Obama won Iowa, Clinton won NH and NV. But, Clinton received only 1 less delegate in Iowa while Obama received the same number in NH and one more in NV. It's a tied game, folks.
As a former young athelete and now a parent of kids playing sports, I can tell you that there is no more vile a creature than the Bleacher Creature. You know the one. The mom that scream to the coach to play HER precious (increadibly talented, overlooked and underappreciated) son more. And the dad that yells at the umpire that the last call was just wrong wrong wrong. We all know the Bleacher Creature because they are at every game (even the away games), scream the loudest, and simply won't be satisfied with anything less than getting exactly what they want when they want it.
Bleacher Creatures make the game less fun for everyone. They are a minority of the parents and fans in the stands and while they are roaring from their seats, everyone else is cringing and hoping someone (else) tells them to Shut the F Up!
So, to all the Creatures here we go: SHUT UP. Watch the game. Lead by example. Most of all, root for a good game where the rules are respected, no one gets hurt, the loser goes home knowing they did their best in a fair game, and everyone celebrate the well-earned success of the winning team.
PLAY BALL!
